Ruth-Ann E. Toups

Ruth-Ann has always had a passion for planning and working with people to create solutions. She enjoys helping families navigate the maze of legal options to find a sense of security and peace of mind. After working for another law firm, Ruth-Ann founded The Toups Law Firm in response to needs she saw in the community. There is a strong need to make estate planning services more accessible to those who need them. Ruth-Ann works with clients to make estate planning work for them.

Ruth-Ann is a Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA) by the National Elder Law Foundation and she is Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Of the over 120,000 attorneys in Texas only 31 have earned the CELA designation indicating a true level of expertise in Elder Law. Only 11 of those 31 CELAs can also say they are Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law. In addition, she is certified by the State Bar of Texas to handle guardianship matters. Ruth-Ann serves as a board member of the Texas Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), is a member of the Texas Bar College, and is on the editorial board of the NAELA journal. Ruth-Ann has been recognized by Houstonia Magazine as one of Houston’s Top Lawyers three times. She is a frequent speaker both at community education events as well as continuing education for lawyers and other professionals.
